In the aftermath of the recent security breach at the Parliament in New Delhi, robust measures have been implemented to fortify security. Following the surrender of Lalit Mohan Jha, the alleged mastermind behind the breach, stringent measures include increased security personnel, thorough credential checks, and the imminent installation of full-body scanners at entry gates.

The Central Public Works Department has initiated steps, with a tender for additional security infrastructure, estimating a cost of Rs 35 crores. The heightened security involves Delhi police and CRPF personnel, with discussions about potentially expanding the role of CRPF in overall complex security.

Eight security personnel have been suspended for their roles in the breach, highlighting the seriousness of the incident. A comprehensive enquiry, headed by CRPF DG Anish Dayal Singh, aims to provide insights into the security lapses.

In response to the breach, measures are evident at Transport Bhavan, adjacent to Parliament, with increased identity checks. Entry restrictions have been reinforced, redirecting officials to specific gates, exemplified when Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was directed to an alternative entrance.

Notably, Makar Dwar at the new Parliament House has been restricted, affecting media access and prompting relocations for journalists. Security personnel now scrutinize visitors rigorously, allowing entry only to those with valid passes, reinforcing the significance of proper credentials.

The four arrested suspects face charges under the UAPA and various sections of the IPC, emphasizing the gravity of their actions. A case has been registered under UAPA sections 16 and 18, alongside IPC sections 120B, 452, 153, 186, and 353.

Lalit Mohan Jha’s surrender marked the conclusion of a massive manhunt, leading to custody. His association with NGOs and alignment with revolutionary ideologies, notably inspired by Bhagat Singh, adds complexity to the case. Investigations are set to delve into the accused’s connections across Mumbai, Mysuru, and Lucknow, shedding light on potential influences and preparations.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the incident underscores the imperative for heightened security measures and continuous vigilance to safeguard sensitive establishments, prompting a broader examination of the roles played by the accused and their affiliations.
