In an unfortunate incident that unfolded on Friday in Mohammed Nagar, Mahilabad, Lucknow, three members of a family fell victim to a fatal shooting allegedly carried out by a man involved in a land dispute. The victims were identified as Munir Ahmed Khan, his nephew Hanzala Khan , and Hanzala’s mother Farheen.

The tragic event transpired after a ‘Lekhpal’ arrived to measure a piece of land, sparking a heated argument among the family members. The dispute escalated, leading Siraj Ahmed Khan, also known as Lallan, to reportedly use his licensed rifle to shoot Munir, Hanzala, and Farheen.

To prevent further clashes, a substantial police force has been deployed in the area. According to Lucknow Police Commissioner SB Shiradkar, a court had previously dismissed the land dispute between the two parties. Despite this, both sides independently called the ‘Lekhpal’ for land measurement without informing the police. Following the measurement, a confrontation ensued, culminating in Lallan allegedly shooting the three victims upon their return home.

Shiradkar disclosed that the police have successfully recovered the rifle used in the incident and seized the accused’s car. Additionally, some of Lallan’s associates have been apprehended, with an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Lucknow West DCP Rahul Raj informed India Today TV that Lallan has a prior criminal record, and an FIR has been registered against him in Mahilabad. The tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the complexities surrounding land disputes and the potential for violence in their resolution.
